Common questions
Straight answers, no fine print.
Is Split Task really free?
Yes, completely. Every feature is unlocked. There are no ads, no paywalls, no premium tier, and no in-app purchases.
Do I need an account?
Nope. Without an account, everything stays on your device. You only need an account if you want your lists synced across devices. Note that offline mode is only available on Android for now.
What happens to my data?
Guest data never leaves your device. If you sync, data is encrypted and your password is hashed on-device before ever traveling. You can wipe everything permanently whenever you like.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Reminders are scheduled on your device and everything saves locally first. It syncs later once you are back online.
Web or Android, which should I use?
Both share the same data, so pick whatever fits. The browser version works anywhere, while Android adds on-device notifications and the best offline experience.
What Split Task is
A plain definition.
Split Task is a free calendar for tasks and events
Split Task is an organizational tool that provides a home for your tasks, events, reminders, and notes. It runs on the web and Android devices, works offline, and lets you sync with encryption, if you so desire. It is free, with every feature unlocked. There are no ads or premium tiers.
Task splitting is the core idea. Task splitting means taking one big overwhelming goal and breaking it into small concrete steps you can actually finish. For example, "plan birthday party" becomes book venue, send invites, order cake, and buy decorations. Each small win builds momentum, which is why Split Task nudges you to split early and often.
Quick add is plain language input. Quick add means you type "dentist tomorrow at 4pm" and the app pulls out the what, the when, and the reminder for you.
How people actually use it
Real routines, not feature bingo.
Morning overview in under a minute
After chosing a preferred view in settings, you can view the day's timeline or week's timeline, breaking down a stressful schedule into visible segments.
Reminders you can trust offline
Because reminders live on your device, they fire in airplane mode, in basements, and on road trips. In testing, offline reminders fired 100 percent of the time across 250 scheduled test events using various mid range Android phones.
Sync built for usability
Stay a guest and nothing leaves your phone, turn on sync and your data is encrypted in transit, passwords or sensitive information are hashed on your device first. Deletion is immediate and permanent, verify with your password and your months of life is wiped from my servers in under 10 seconds.
Background insight
Split task uses on-device hashing for any notes you deem secure, passwords, and sensitive information, an extra layer of protection before server encryption. Deleting your data sends a server request immediately, if you lose connection after clicking delete, the server still wipes everything.
Policies, in plain sight
